Well, School is out of the summer. I have a love/hate relationship with summer. I love being with my kids, I love being able to sleep in a bit, I love not having to try to figure out what in the world to pack Hailey for lunch (will NOT eat any of the 4 choices the school gives, doesn't like sandwiches....ug, the frustration on that topic could go on and on...) I hate that we all become a little lazy, I hate that we all sleep in TOO much, I hate friends over ALL DAY (yeah, I know...I'm mean!) So, with all those frustrations, last year I made up a "plan" for the Summer. It went so well, we will be doing it again! (Warning: some parents, and probably ALL kids think that I'm crazy!)
Summer Rules at our house:
1) make your bed/clean your room/breakfast/brush teeth/get dressed(yeah, you would think I wouldn't have to put get dressed....)
2) Read for 20 minutes
3) do two worksheets worth of homework. I pick them.
4)Do a job. (assigned, I pick, different everyday)
5) No playing until after lunch and 12:30.
It sounds kinda tough reading it, but it really made our summer go smoothly. I let them play until 5ish, so 4.5-5 hours is MORE then enough friend time. We also do fun things too. We go to parks, swimming, library, visit friends, bowling...there is fun in there too :)
So, I took some first day of school pictures and last day of school pictures. I can't believe how much they have grown!
Kaden is now a first grader!! WAHOOO full day of school next year! Yeah!
(Where in the world does the time go?!)
So, what is your schedule like in the summer? Do you have one? (I didn't until kids were ringing my doorbell at 8 am last summer!) Do you have them do homework? Do you think its worth the fight? (yeah, sometimes its a fight!)

I think it is a great summer plan! You make me laugh!!! 5 hours is plenty of friend time.
I think it's so great that I just might have to do something similar. :)
Since we're not in school yet our summer schedule is the same as the rest of the year. I like your plan, it's a great idea and I may have to steal some of it. Our daily schedule is seriously lacking in some areas!
PS. Sorry I bailed on you Wednesday, it was just not a go work out kind of night!
I think your ideas are GREAT. Summer is fun and hard all at the same time. I need to get them on a schedule too. Not sure yet what that will be.....but for now we are just relaxing.
I know how you feel about the friend thing. Just yesterday I was complaining about summer vacation because I'm not looking forward to being the neighborhood babysitter. (somehow, all the kids end up at our house)
I love your pics. What a fun idea. I am with you. This year went by way to fast. I wish my kids were done. We still have a whole month left. boo hoo
Wow your kids really have grown its funny to see the differance a year can make.
